Dressing For a Long Flight

Whether you are simply nipping up to Leeds, or heading all the way down to Australia, travel flights in particular, can be a very uncomfortable business. Unless you are appropriately dressed on your plane journey, you will inevitably find yourself feeling awkward and discomposed.

Choosing an outfit to fly in is not difficult. Your guiding principle needs to be practicality, however, this does not mean you can get away with going in your pyjamas. It is possible to be comfortable and look relatively well put together, and with a little resourceful thinking, you shouldn't find this hard to manage.

To begin with, you don't want to wear anything that is too restricting. Very tight jeans and uncomfortably close fitting shirts will undoubtedly have you squirming in your seat. Instead, opt for wide legged trousers, or a pair made from a more forgiving fabric than denim.

Shoes are perhaps the most important items to consider before boarding a plane. If you are troubled with swelling in your extremities on a long flight, you will absolutely want to avoid anything with straps that might cut into your feet. Sandals are not a good choice. If it is summer, go for shoes in a comfortable breathable fabric such as cotton, and if it is winter, consider a pair of soft, wool-lined boots.

Flying tends to be a fairly stressful business, even without an uncomfortable outfit. In order to make sure you don't spend the entire journey wishing you had picked a better pair of trousers, it is important to choose clothes in which you can relax.
