As of 2nd March 2009, Leeds Earth First! is back !!!!

We are meeting every First and Third Monday of the Month at 7pm at The Common Place Leeds.

So, our next meeting is on MONDAY 16TH March 2009 @ 7PM in the Common Place. The main topic of discussion this meeting will be organising ourselves to get to the G20 mobilisation, in London April 1st, we'll also have further discussion about the Coal Caravan, drax29 court case, stalls, Leeds Uni GM and anything else any of you want to come along and mention! We also hope to have further discussion on how we can plan and organise in order to bring this group forward.. let's get our brainstorming hats on!

Other dates worth mentioning:

The people's premiere of "Age Of Stupid" at 5pm on Sunday, it's showing at the Vue cinemas in Kirkstall and The Light shopping centre (in town). The film itself starts at 6 and there will be a live link-up to the makers afterwards for a Q and A session. Get there early at 5 for the green carpet opening and motivational speeches from local campaigners. Also, this is a great leafleting oppurtunity for local campaigns!!

We're planning to do EF! stalls in town on Saturday 21st and Saturday 28th March 2009. The plan at the moment is that they'll be general climate change awareness raising stalls, with leaflets/petitions from different local campaigns, leaflets advertising Leeds EF! and leaflets about a variety of climate change issues. We still need volunteers to come and help out. We hope to keep the stalls operating all day so if you could come along even for a couple of hours it'd be much appreciated.

G20 mobilisation 1st April 2009, London. G20 leaders are arriving London today, let's go and show them that we're not going to sit back and let them put profits over people and big business over real solutions to climate change! Leeds EF! are organising a direct action training day in the Common Place on Sunday 19th April 2009 from 11am-5pm. It's free to attend but donations to the Common Place would be much appreciated (poss £5-£10 for day?). We won't provide food so please bring vegan food to share/scoff by yourself. We'll be covering direct action techniques, basic legal information, activist security and tips for planning effective actions. Please RSVP to leeds@earthfirst.org.uk.

The Coal Caravan is happening between 24th April and 4th May 2009 it will be a bike ride from Nottingham to near Newcastle with numerous coal and climate change themed events along the way.
